Mourn was born in Silverymoon in 1261 (DR). With two relatively powerful wizard parents, it is little surprising that Mourn followed in their footsteps. As Mourn grew into adulthood however, he came to distance himself more and more from his parents and the typical attitudes of sun elves. When they finally grew sick of Silverymoon’s cosmopolitan philosophies, they arranged to return to Evermeet, the land of their birth. Following many unresolved arguments, Mourn simply unilaterally decided to stay in the North.
Homeless and alone, he volunteered to one of the northern garrisons which watch and occasionally engage the orcs of the spine of the world. It is there that he developed a friendship with Aaron Longtarin and the druid known as Franz. In addition to bonding over the general unpleasantness of their situation, they developed a fighting synergy unlike that of most soldiers. This is why, at the end of their service, with unnatural meteorological circumstances preventing more traditional communications, they were made to deliver sensitive documents to the Rauvinwatch Keep. The trip proved eventful to say the least. What with freeing a town from a supernatural threat, rescuing a kidnapped official in Nesmé, fighting orcs and even a Troll, the bonds they had formed in the small border keep simply grew stronger and, having cultivated a taste for adventure, they decided to remain together after receiving their discharge and commendations.
